The Wrong
End Of Time - Part Four

Written by Bruce Stewart
With Gottfried occupied with trying to find whatever it was that
Sarah said she saw being buried and Simon helping him, Liz forces
Sarah through the time barrier. When she tries to follow, she
gets her sleeve caught on the fence and struggles to free herself.
Suddenly, she is spotted by Fritz who raises his gun to strike
her but Gottfried intervenes giving Liz the chance to escape through
the hole in the fence. Gottfried calls for her to come back but
she is gone.

At the Bull Inn, Jean lets out a scream...
Gottfried admonishes Simon who explains that Liz has only taken
Sarah back to her mother. Gottfried plans to send a signal to
the village to have the two children intercepted.
Liz and Sarah are on the other side of the time barrier and back
in 1970. Liz tries to comfort Sarah but Sarah is worried about
Simon.
A signal is flashed to the village from the base by one of the
Germans.
Gottfried returns Simon to Commander Traynor in the Common room.
Simon tells the Commander that Liz and Sarah have escaped but
that the Germans have sent a signal to the village to have them
picked up. Traynor has seen the signals and Simon wonders about
the Germans' interest in the naval base.
Traynor questions Jean about her vision of Liz in danger but Skinner
is still disturbed and argues with Traynor about his attitude.
Outside the Bull Inn, Liz tells Sarah to lie about where she has
been all this time. She takes her into the hotel where Bradley
is astonished to see the two of them.
Skinner accuses Traynor of having selfish reasons for his investigation.
In the lounge, Jean and Skinner are reunited with Liz as Traynor
obliquely confronts Bradley who skulks off. With Bradley gone,
Traynor asks Liz what really happened...
Gottfried is in the supply room still trying to find answers.

Frank has regained consciousness and is being questioned by Commander
Traynor. He is unable to give his commanding officer any coherent
answers before Gottfried enters. Frank mentions a bright light,
which puzzles Gottfried, and it becomes apparent that Frank is
suffering from severe amnesia. Gottfried says he wants Frank for
a job and decides to take Simon with him as well.
He takes the pair to the supply room where he asks them to dismantle
some equipment. Left alone, Simon asks Frank if he managed to
carry out the Commander's instructions. Frank still can't remember.
He can't even remember who Simon or Liz are.
At the Bull Inn, Liz is being comforted by her mother. She is
still puzzled by what has happened. The two discuss her father's
problems and the situation at the naval station. They are joined
by Traynor and her father who admits that he still remembers nothing
about what happened at the base. Traynor suggests they get down
to sorting out the mystery and, much to everyone's horror, suggests
that Liz will be returning to the time barrier.
(Commercial Break)
Simon and Frank are continuing with their dismantling of the equipment
in the supply room whilst Gottfried and his comrades sort through
some papers. Simon and Frank discover the secret room behind the
notice board. The young rating begins to recall what he had to
do for Commander Traynor. He starts to destroy the secret equipment.
Simon finds a cylindrical casing with a ruby mounted in it amongst
the equipment. The two manage to close the secret door when Frank
collapses and Gottfried enters. Frank is removed whilst Simon
hides the ruby amongst some other equipment.
At the hotel, Traynor tells Skinner that he believes Frank DID
dismantle the equipment however he doesn't know if Gottfried had
seen the plans he hid behind the skirting board. Gottfried is
now in 1970 possibly working for the Russians and Traynor needs
to know how much Gottfried learnt at the station. He suggests
that using Liz and Jean's telepathy, they can find out what actually
happened by allowing Liz to return to 1940.
A signal is sent to the Germans at the base from the village.
It is given to Gottfried. He tells Commander Traynor that nobody
has heard of the children in the village. Traynor is suspicious
of how he found out. Gottfried, his patience nearly expired, demands
to know what he is really researching at the station. Gottfried
tries to reason with him but Traynor is unwilling to divulge anything.
His patience exhausted, Gottfried has Graz tie the Commander to
his chair.
At the ministry field, Traynor is convincing Jean and Skinner
that it is safe for Liz to return to the naval station in 1940.
Liz attempts to find the barrier by the gateposts.
Gottfried stops Graz from brutalising Commander Traynor further.
Traynor has revealed nothing. Frustrated, Gottfried sends Traynor
away. Alone in Traynor's office, Gottfried notices the loose skirting
board...
Liz is having trouble finding the barrier.
Gottfried has opened up the skirting board and is struggling to
find out what is behind it.
Liz becomes panicky. The time barrier is no longer there.
